Maldives is a group of islands located in the Indian Ocean. It has a population of around 400,000 people and they speak Dhivehi. The capital city is Male and it is located on an island called Maalhosmadulu Uthuruburi.
To sum up, It has the lowest population density in the world but because of its grandiosity, it also has one of the highest per capita GDPs in Asia and is classified as a high-income country by World Bank standards. Needless to say, tourism is one of its strong points which provides the continuous access of profits.
Maldives means “the protected place.” It was given this name because the country was protected from pirates by its remoteness until the late 18th century when it became a British protectorate.
What Makes its Markings
Just like any other tourist destination, this country has a lot to offer from beaches, to scenery, and even accommodation. But what makes people hype it up? Some may say it’s overrated but it does hold onto that account well. For starters, the country does not require a pre-arrival visa regardless of the country you are from. They only require a valid passport and proof of travel to the said destination. Hence the ease of travel.
To continue, it has a chain of 26 atolls. These atolls are made up of coral reefs and sandbars turned into islands. This provides Maldives with a lot of coastal spots. The beaches have white sands meeting the turquoise blues of the water which gives a picturesque view. On top of that, beaches here are often less crowded as opposed to other beach destinations such as:
Como Cocoa Island
It is an island home to 33 interesting beachside villas on top of the soft sand. As mentioned above, these islands are often private giving it a posh and more spiritual vibe especially with the presence of various holistic centers.
Baros Island
An island of lush canopy highlighting the real Maldivial Legends. As it is anywhere in Maldives, the water is clear enough where you can see the sea floor and the reflection of the palm trees above.
Male Island
Male being the capital of Maldives always have incredible cultural happenings and hubs. It is the perfect place for exploration and sight-seeing with the oceans and infrastructure alike. You may also want to visit the protected ocean pool or their artificial beach to enjoy added fun activities.
I can be so isolated and alone. I’m sitting on the beach, with my feet in the sand. It’s like there is no one else here with me. It’s just me and the ocean.
